Different Types of Credit Cards
If you're looking for a new credit card, here are some different types.

If you’re looking to apply for a credit card and you don’t know what kind of credit card you should exactly apply for, we have broken down some categories that you may be interested in depending on your spending habits.  Everyone’s spending habits vary and the following credit card categories should help you get a good understanding on what you should apply for.

Gas Reward Credit Cards

If you tend to drive a lot, you may want to look into a credit card that offers gas rebates.  The concept is quite simple.  Every time you fill up at the pump, you save a percentage.  Some credit cards are dedicated to a particular gas station, while other credit cards you can use at any gas station.  This credit card is good only if you tend to fill up at least two to three times a week.

Airline Credit Cards

If you find yourself travelling a lot whether it’s on business or just for pleasure, you may want to either look into a particular airline credit card or a travel credit card.  The difference between the two is that an airline credit card is dedicated to one airline where you can only get points through one airliner.  A travel credit card is typically used as a point system that can be redeemed for airline tickets.  A airline credit card will generally give you more points than a travel credit card.

Cash Back Credit Cards

This type of credit card is one of the most popular out of all of them.  The concept is like the title says; you will receive a certain percentage back on your purchases.  So if you have a credit card that gives you two percent back on your bill, every one dollar you spend, you will receive two cents back.  It doesn’t sound like a lot but it definitely adds up over time.

First Time Credit Cards

If you’re looking for your first time credit card, you may want to look toward a student credit card if you’re attending school.  If you’re not attending school, you’re usually going to want to look at the credit card companies first time applier’s type credit cards.  These credit cards generally hold a higher interest rate and offer a very low credit limit.

Point Based Credit Cards

Like a cash back credit card, a point credit card is very similar. The only difference is that you’ll receive points instead of cash back.  With these points, you’ll be able to spend them at the credit card company’s online store.  You can usually buy things ranging from electronics items to gift cards.  Point based credit cards usually work where you get a point for every dollar you spend.

These are just a few of the credit card categories that are on the market.  Most of these categories are very popular among many consumers.  If none of these credit cards appeal to you, you can always ask around or call up the credit card companies to see what kind of credit card can cater your needs.
