When I started making my site, I intended to use adsense merely to get it started and assumed that banner ads would be more profitable in the long run.
However following a progressive move towards banner advertisement, I have found that the adsense actually perform better.
There is a theory that the images are easier to block out by the viewer who instead focusses on the text at first.
