The Bush Tax Rebate
Look into the 2008 George Bush tax rebate plan. |
If you've haven't noticed by now, the economy isn't doing that hot. In order to stimulate the economy, George Bush has brought up the proposal of issuing tax rebates to every United States citizen. In years past, a tax rebate would be issued so that people could put more money in the economy. Does this technique work? Some say yes, some say no.
Let's take a look at the proposal George Bush has made with the new tax rebate plan. His agenda is to give an individual up to $800 cash back in a form of a rebate. The amount you will get back will be determined from a few factors. Back in 2001, if you don't remember, George Bush issued a $300 tax rebate. This rebate could almost be triple that.
If this tax rebate does go through, this is going to cost the economy close to 146 billion dollars. Yes, you're probably thinking the same thing, the United States doesn't need anymore debt and this is where some financial experts say we need the economy boost and others say it will do nothing but harm.
Let's look into the details if this bill was to go through. Even though there's no confirmation yet that the rebates are going to go out, everything you hear now are just speculative rumors. Below is a breakdown on what each individual could possibly get --
Up to $600 per person
Up to $1,200 per couple
Up to $300 per child
Right now there are some requirements that are in the works. An individual can make no more than $75,000 and couples combined can make no more than $150,000. To be eligible for this rebate, you must have earned at least $3,000 in 2007.
If this rebate package does go through, you can expect a check anywhere from ten weeks and on. If the plan goes through, it will probably take a week or so to get the process rolling. From there, you will receive a paper check in the mail issued by the government.
