Bank of Fayetteville 4.00% Checking

The Bank of Fayetteville is offering a lot more than free checking.  As of today (1/31/2009), the bank is offering a sky high interest rate of 4.00% APY on balance of up to $50,000.  0.50% APY is paid on all balances over $50,000. 

Here’s what you have to do to qualify –

  • Must have at least $100 to open up the account.
  • Make at least 10 VISA CheckCard transactions per month.
  • Make 1 direct deposit or ACH/Electronic payment.
  • You have to receive an E-statement.

If you don’t meet all of these requirements monthly, you get a 0.15% APY on your account.

The checking account features –

  • ATM refunds up to $25 per statement cycle.
  • $1000 overdraft privilege*
  • Unlimited check writing.
  • 24-hour telephone banking.
  • Free online bill pay and banking.

Get a Free HDTV with Flagstar Bank

When you open up a 12 to 17 month CD at 2.75% APY (as of 1/30/2009) with a minimum balance of $35,000, you also get a 15″ HDTV - delivered right to your home.

The TV being given away looks like this. (close to a $200 value)

To qualify for the TV, you must also have a Loyalty Checking account. 

A penalty of 180 days of interest on the account withdrawn may be imposed for withdrawals before maturity.  In addition, an early withdrawal penalty in the amount of $200 will be assessed for the cost of the TV.

You must maintain your primary checking account and conduct an average of 15 transactions a month or at least $250 in recurring ACH transactions per month to qualify for the loyalty rate.

Flagstar will issue a 1099 for the value of the TV.

H+R Block Bank CD Rates

When you think of H+R Block, you probably think about tax services but did you know they have a bank section as well and their CD rates actually aren’t that bad!  In fact, some of them fall into the Gotalkmoney.com top ten charts.

Here are the rates as of  1/29/2009 –

  • 3 month:  2.50% APY
  • 6 month:  2.85% APY
  • 12 month:  3.25% APY
  • 18 month:  2.75% APY
  • 24 month:  3.50% APY
  • 36 month:  4.00% APY
  • 48 month:  3.50% APY
  • 60 month:  4.25% APY

Coulee Bank 5.01% APY Checking

If you’re in the market for a high yield checking account, you’ll want to check out Coulee Bank’s 5.01% APY checking deal for balances up to $25,000 (as of 1/28/09).  In addition to this account, you also receive up to $20 in ATM fees refunds per month.  This isn’t bad if you ask me!

To qualify for this account, you must –

  • Make at least 10 debt card POS transactions per “cycle”.
  • You must receive e-statements.
  • You have to set up at least one direct deposit or one auto debit monthly.

The defintion of “cycle” starts on the last business day of a month and ends on the second to last business day of the next month.  All requirements much be complete and posted in that cycle to be considered for the 5.01%.  If you don’t meet the requirements, you receive the lower rate or .30%.

This account has no monthly fees and no minimum balance.  If your account is above $25,000, you’ll get a 1.01% APY.  Must have at least $50 to open up an account.  Personal accounts only.  This account is FDIC insured and has a 4 star out of 5 star Bankrate.com safe and sound rating.

1/27: Tuesday News and Notes

It was yet another Tuesday and that means it’s time for updates.  Here are some of the stories going around the banking atmosphere.

Dollar Savings Direct dropped their rate from 4.00% APY to 3.50% APY, making the #2 now on the top 10 money market list.  Bank of Internet now holds the #1 spot with a 3.51% APY, $100 minimum.

Here are the #1 banks for each CD –

  • 3 month:  Umbrella Bank, 2.25% APY
  • 6 month:  Ascencia, 2.95% APY
  • 1 year:  Flagstar, 3.25% APY
  • 18 month:  Stonebridge, 3.00% APY
