Is this bank FDIC insured?
I just learned the rating system for banks & was shocked to read about money at wachovia lost. I have a cd of over $l0,000 - is it safe to keep it in there? Isn't it FDIC? trudy
Update: No, my money is still missing but In further research I have discovered that Wachovia is declaring an 8+ BILLION dollar corperate lose and there is a lot of talk about whether Wachovia can survive this. Does anyone knwo a good laywer? Stay away from this Bank -- that's my advice.
World Bank is no more, it is Wachovia. We had a large sum in a cd and when it matured wachovia would not match the rate of a competitor so we went to the wachovia counter, face to face and had a counter check drawn up for direct deposit to the competitor. We go on vacation, come back and find the money never amde it to the competitor. Wachovia admits to having given us a counter check on a wrong account number so they dropped the bounced check penalty. Now they say they don't where the money is ??? this is not a few thousand dollars but several, like a lot and they have no idea where it is. How can this happen. When it was World bank we had no problems but since Wachovia took over they stink. Gosh, I hope I don't have to get a lawyer.
This bank had no ATMs at all (so every time you w/d it costs money), the bank was never open, and their bank cards take 2 weeks to get to you. they are the WORST never sign up with them.
It becomes Wachovia now. Wachovia is OK, but they charge a lot of fees. If you read carefully, you should be cool.
