I think this bank is the worst. When i call about any issue on any of my 5 accounts, i always have trouble understanding the person on the other end. when explaning the problem or question, i often have to repeat it several times and end up getting transfered to multi departments. I resently was on my cell for over two hours trying to resolve an issue of a lost form. i sent the formin twice and faxed it twice. hssbc would call me every day about this. sometimes more than once. i would ask them to read the notes on the account to me about this. they would acknowledge receipt of the form but would tell me it would take a few days to get into the system. i sent the first form on the first of the month. they called me till the middle of the next month, almost every day. closing all my accounts seems to be the only way i can get even with hsbc. i will never bank with them again. i don't like seeing anyone failing, but i feel this bank should.

My advice to every one who try to open an account with HSBC has to think twice because they deduct money from you with out you know and when you ask no body give you an answer. Bad customer service. They charge you for every thing. I had an account with them. I closed the account and keep calling them to send me the statement for my credit cards and no body did. They keep telling me you don't have any credit cards with us. They keep deduct money from my account and when I ask for what they said you have amount owing on your credit card and they keep promising to send me the statements. After six months after all the fights with them, I realize that they deduct $100.00 for every month from my account just interest and the total amount was only 2400.00$. I guess the interest rate was 50% and I don't know any thing about it. They refuse to return the money to me and I have no time to fight it. So I just want to say if you want to save your self the trouble don't bother to open an account or to do any deal with them.

This is the slowest online bank I've dealt with in transferring funds. Emigrant is much faster at moving money from your account. I've written twice to HSBC to inquire why it takes them so long to electronically move funds to my verified checking account and they always give me some corporate platitude. I this day and age it DOES not take 10 days to move money.

Was happy HSBC customer, since 1980, until May 2007 statement arrived. The balance of my checkbook (not savings, thankgoodness)has not matched the bank's balance! It has grown steadily worse, from $20. to $75. difference to date. I have repeatedly been to the bank to complain to managers and written to the Buffalo office. They assure me there is no other charge or hacker or corrupt employee removing the sums. The statements read correctly, but the balance does not. I have done the math over & over. This is very serious!!!

This is a great bank. I live in Westport but frequent the Westp[ort Ave branch. The Manager and team are wonderful and the service and prodcuts, better than any other local bank. I have not had a single [problem error since I joined the bank last year. HSBC's approach is simple, Your [point of Vie if always welcome and they mean it. PLus, when is the last tiem your banker welocmed you opened the door for you and wished you a great day??? Point made.

Now in my mid-50s, I've been banking for years, internet banking as soon as it was available. I've never had so many unexpected problems with a bank. Reviewing recent bill pay history is a nightmare; making changes to recurring payments is scary. My recurring payment to a credit card is always processed as an ETF until I requested a payoff - they've processed it as a paper check that they'll MAIL, debiting the account when it's presented for payment...meanwhile the credit card accrues additional interest. It's been one thing after another and I'm done. I've had internet banking experience with Netbank, Wachovia, ING, none of which ever caused any problems - HSBC has a unique approach, lovely employees, but their technology is poor and all I can do is take my business elsewhere.
