Fifth Third Bank
Fifth
Third traces its origins to the Bank of the Ohio Valley,
which opened its doors in Cincinnati in 1858. In 1871,
that bank was purchased by the Third National Bank. With
the turn of the century came the union of the Third National
Bank and the Fifth National Bank, and eventually the organization
became known as "Fifth Third Bank." Since its
beginning, Fifth Third has provided superior customer
service and followed sound banking principles.

Don't believe this site when it says Fifth Third provides "superior
customer service and followed sound banking principles". My wife and I are
being charged ridiculous overdraft fees despite the fact that our account
has never been negative. If it has been negative we have not been made
aware of this even though we check our online bank everyday and NEVER ONCE
does it show a negative. Also, be sure to read the part in the brochure
(because they sure won't tell you) that tells you when you deposit a check,
no matter the amount, only $100 is available to you that day. Oh, but
they'll sure take more money than that from you. And if you deposit a check
on Saturday it doesn't process till Monday night which means that $100 is
available on Tuesday and the rest will come available on Wednesday. Any
statement they give you or your online account will sure show that full
amount in there though. Basically, unless you're not like the majority of
the population who has to live paycheck to paycheck and can afford to not
have your money available to you DON'T BANK AT FIFTH THIRD!

have had nothing but problems since opening my account with Fifth Third
Bank. From day one I have had charges on my account that were not correct,
from check fees to overdraft fees that I had to point out and argue to get
them reversed. To top it all off i got a debit card in the mail that
magically started making purchases without my authorization. In return i
get stuck with hundreds of dollars of overdraft fees. The best part is it
takes 120 days for me to dispute the transactions. I am currently a student
and live paycheck to paycheck. 300 dollars could make or break me. They
stated if I do not pay then they will ruin my credit with collections. When
I called the 1-800 number the lady was very rude and told me there was
nothing she could do for me. Yes that is correct, the customer service
representative said she was no help to me. I called my bank and told them
of the charges and that i did not authorize them. They said that some items
had been returned so i could not dispute them. But they still charged me
the overdraft fees on those items. Does it seem fair to you to charge me an
overdraft fee on a transaction that was returned? So mabey in 120 business
days they will make it right. Also there is lots of fine print you miss
when you sign up for a FREE CHECKING ACCOUNT. It cost 9 dollars to transfer
funds between checking and savings. You have to write a check to yourself
to withdraw money at a branch because they do not have withdraw slips.
Checks are 20.99 and they automatically charge you for them. Overdraft fees
are the highest out of any banks. While they do a great job greeting you
and making you feel good about banking with, its because they are ripping
you off and they have to do something to keep you there. Look at it from a
moral perspective...its not right!

Fifth third bank is nothing but a bunch a crooks! they find every possible
way to charge, charge, charge!! i finally switched after i got 630.00 worth
of overdraft fees all due to the way they "post" your deposits and
withdrawls. Go to a local bank and dont support the big chain banks! local
banks wont find every way to screw you over!
